Tension – 3 on 6.5mm machine for both yarns– this one made on an LK-150

The first set of numbers is for the merino yarn and the second set for the Moonbeam.
Pictured sock has tuck ribbing, hand tooled and knit from Louet's superwash Merino
Pattern
Cast on 23 (25) stitches with waste yarn and knit 10 rows. Knit 1 row with ravel cord.
Change to main color yarn and tension and knit 24 rows.
Heel Shaping – COR. Set your machine so that stitches brought to E position will not knit (Hold), and put one needle opposite carriage side into E position. Knit one row, wrap the needle in E position. Put one needle opposite carriage side to E position and knit a row back to the right - remember to wrap the needle in E position. This is (KWK) short row shaping.
Keep on KWK till you have 8 stitches in work position. Now it is time to start removing needles from Hold position and bringing them back into working position (WP). Increase back out by putting 2 stitches opposite the carriage back into WP. (I put the needles in C position, so the carriage will knit them.) Knit across.
*Put the first needle in WP, on carriage side, back out to E position (that will form an automatic wrap) and bring 2 needles on the opposite side to WP before you knit across. * Repeat from * to* until all needles are in WP.
Sole – RC-000. Knit 48 rows for the sole.
Toe Shaping – Short row exactly as you did for the heel shaping.
Upper Foot – This is where you decide whether to join both sides of your sock or to knit it flat and have one long seam up the side. It’s your choice.
Flat Sock Version
RC –000 Hang the loops on one side of the sock only. Start out by crossing the side stitches to prevent a hole forming. Take the edge stitch off with a transfer tool, hang one side stitch, then rehang the first stitch. The edge needle will have 2 loops on it.
Knit 2 rows, then pick up the next outside loop along the side, hanging it on top of the last needle in WP. This is called knit and seam as you go. You can pick up the knot on the edge of the knitting, but it’s a lot harder to get the transfer tool into that knot.
A neat trick I learned from the Bond knitters is to hang bobby pins when you knit the sole. Then when it comes time to seam the sides, the bobby pins just have to be picked up and the yarn place on the needles. It’s really quick and easy on your eyes.
RC-72, hang the last loop to be picked up, but also hang the 23 (25) stitches from the back of the heel. You now have 46 (50) stitches in WP.
RC-000 – Knit 48 rows in pattern of your choice – 1x1 rib, 2x2 rib, tuck ribbing or whatever you’d like. You can easily increase stitches on each edge, or you can increase the stitch dial tension to make the leg wider. Remember to bind off loosely.
Seam the long side seam.

Circular Sock Version (Vikki’s version) fits a woman’s size medium foot
Cast on 46 (50) needles for 1x1 rib. Knit 32 rows for a shorter cuff or 48 rows for a longer cuff. Transfer all stitches to main bed and scrap off half on waste yarn.
Knit 24 rows. Add reinforcing strand of yarn here if desired. Something that won’t change the gauge a lot like 60/2 silk, or sewing thread.
Short row for heel to 8 stitches and back out.
Knit 40 rows for sole, and then short row to 8 stitches for toe and back out. Take out second strand of yarn. Picking up both sides of knitting, knit 40 rows. You're attaching the sole to the top of the foot ending at the top of the short row for the heel. Continue to pick up and hang both sides, and knit 24 rows. You'll be back up to the ribbing.
Turn the sock inside out. Take the 23 (25) sock body stitches off on a garter bar or waste yarn. Rehang the ribbing on waste yarn wrong side facing you and hang the sock body on the same needles, wrong side facing you. Pull the sock body stitches through the ribbing stitches and back stitch bind off. This leaves only the ribbing seam to stitch up.
